Communication Essentials

Good communication is a two-way street –– speaking and listening. Listening doesn’t mean just not speaking. Listening is an action. To be an effective listener requires certain behaviors and attitudes.

Despite the importance of listening as a communication skill, research confirms that most of us are poor and inefficient listeners. Studies point out that many of us spend 70 to 80 percent of our waking hours in some form of communication. Of that time, we spend about 9 percent writing, 16 percent reading, 30 percent speaking, and 45 percent listening.

So the question remains …. Are you a good listener?  At Creative Communications, we have some thoughts on the subject but wanted to hear from you.  Let us know what you do to show that you are an effective listener by responding to our Communication Essentials Blog.

We look forward to hearing from you and posting your responses!
